<h3>Download it from Mac Computer</h3>
<p>You can install a Chrome extension to browse the web as a Mac user. So, the extension we recommend is Chrome US Spoofer. Also, known us <a href="https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg/related">User-Agent Switcher for Chrome</a>. Once you download and installed it.</p>
<ul>
<li>Select Safari</li>
<li>Click on Mac Safari 7</li>
<li>Go to Microsoft Windows 10 Download Page</li>
<li>Select Your Windows Language and Edition</li>
<li>Select 32 or 64 bits</li>
<li>Start Downloading.</li>
</ul>
<p>Using this extension tells the Microsoft.com that we are using Mac. So, give me ISO download file.</p>

For most of us happened to forget the password of Windows user account. Here we try to show you how to reset forgotten <a href="http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso">Windows 10</a>  password in just a few minutes. It&#8217;s work for all Windows but no matter which windows you have Vista, windows 7, windows 8,1 or 10 and even Windows Servers.</p>
<h1>Reset Forgotten Windows 10 Password</h1>
<p>The first method is using without third party software. First of all, you must have Windows DVD disc or a <a href="https://www.technig.com/create-bootable-usb-using-diskpart/">bootable USB Flash Drive</a> for booting system.</p>
<figure id="attachment_141" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-141" style="width: 1372px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-141 size-full" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB.png" alt="How to Reset Forgotten Windows 10 Password" width="1372" height="452" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB.png 1372w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB-300x99.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB-768x253.png 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB-1024x337.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1372px) 100vw, 1372px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-141" class="wp-caption-text">How to Reset Forgotten Windows 10 Password</figcaption></figure>
<p><strong>Step 1:</strong> Boot the system with DVD or USB. If you don&#8217;t know how to boot your system, see the article about &#8220;<a href="https://www.technig.com/system-bios-boot-keys-laptops-desktop/">How to boot a system with DVD or USB</a>?&#8221;</p>
<figure id="attachment_142" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-142" style="width: 800px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-10-Setup.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-142 size-full" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-10-Setup.png" alt="Windows 10 Setup Page" width="800" height="443" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-10-Setup.png 800w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-10-Setup-300x166.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-10-Setup-768x425.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-142" class="wp-caption-text">Windows 10 Setup Page</figcaption></figure>
<p><strong>2.</strong> After booting the system, you will see the Windows setup page. Now press <strong>Shift+F10  </strong>to open command prompt (CMD).</p>
<p><strong>Step 2:</strong>  When the command prompt opened type <span style="color: #000000;"><strong>fsutil fsinfo drives</strong> </span>in order to list all available hard disk local drives. See the screenshot.</p>
<figure id="attachment_143" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-143" style="width: 866px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-command-prompt.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-143 size-full" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-command-prompt.png" alt="Fsutil Fsinfo Drives " width="866" height="248" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-command-prompt.png 866w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-command-prompt-300x86.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-command-prompt-768x220.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 866px) 100vw, 866px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-143" class="wp-caption-text">Fsutil Fsinfo Drives</figcaption></figure>
<p>You see all drives and <strong>D:\</strong> must be the windows root directory because <strong>c:\</strong> is the system reserved drive for windows boot loader.</p>

It is and enterprise level of <a title="How to Install Windows Features Offline Using DISM?" href="https://www.technig.com/how-to-install-windows-features-offline-using-dism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Windows Features</a>. So the BitLocker is not for basic and home edition of any Windows. If you want to use this feature of your Windows Operating system, in order to protect your data from loss, theft, or hackers, your must have at least Windows 8 Pro edition. The BitLocker drive encryption is available in the Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, then it is not only for Windows 8. The graphical BitLocker interface in Windows Vista could only encrypt the operating system volume, encrypting other volumes could be achieved through an included <a title="Net User Command Add, Delete, Edit User Account" href="https://www.technig.com/net-user-command-add-delete-edit-user/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">command-line tool</a></p>
<h3>How to Enable BitLocker Drive Encryption?</h3>
<p>In this article I&#8217;m going to test BitLocker on Windows 10 and it must work the same as equivalent edition of Windows. Using BitLocker drive encryption is easy, but the most important things is to do not forget your BitLocker password when you encrypt a drive.</p>
<p>So go to Windows control panel, in Windows 10 press <strong>Windows</strong> button <strong>+ X</strong> then press <strong>P</strong> to open control panel or search Bitlocker on Windows Start menu. It is the shortest way to reach Bitlocker. Now open Bitlocker Driver Encryption and you must see a page like screenshot.</p>
<figure id="attachment_2280" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2280" style="width: 783px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/BitLocker-Drive-Encryption.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-2280" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/BitLocker-Drive-Encryption.jpg" alt="BitLocker Drive Encryption" width="783" height="626" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/BitLocker-Drive-Encryption.jpg 783w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/BitLocker-Drive-Encryption-300x240.jpg 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/BitLocker-Drive-Encryption-768x614.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 783px) 100vw, 783px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2280" class="wp-caption-text">BitLocker Drive Encryption</figcaption></figure>
<p>Here we have two types of drive encryption. One is for Operating system drive which is contain the Windows system files and <a title="Enable Syskey To Protect Windows Against Local Password Cracking" href="https://www.technig.com/enable-syskey-to-protect-windows/">startup</a> files and another is Fixed data drive which is only keep non Windows files. Firs try to enable for Fixed drive like drive <strong>D:</strong> and <strong>F:</strong>.</p>
<h3>Enable BitLocker Drive Encryption for Fixed Data Drives</h3>
<p>It is easy, just click <strong>Turn on BitLocker</strong> for each fixed drive you need to enable it. I&#8217;m try on drive <strong>D:</strong> which is a fixed data drive.</p>
<figure id="attachment_2281" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2281" style="width: 622px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/BitLocker-Drive-Encryption-for-Fixed-Drive.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-2281" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/BitLocker-Drive-Encryption-for-Fixed-Drive.jpg" alt="BitLocker Drive Encryption for Fixed Drive" width="622" height="490" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/BitLocker-Drive-Encryption-for-Fixed-Drive.jpg 622w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/BitLocker-Drive-Encryption-for-Fixed-Drive-300x236.jpg 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/BitLocker-Drive-Encryption-for-Fixed-Drive-279x220.jpg 279w" sizes="(max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2281" class="wp-caption-text">BitLocker Drive Encryption for Fixed Drive</figcaption></figure>
<p>On the <strong>Chose how you want to unlock this drive</strong> page, check the <strong>Use a password to unlock the drive</strong>, then enter the password. Enter some strong password, should contain small and capital alphabets, numbers, symbols and the length must be at least 8 characters. Don? So press enter or click <strong>Next</strong>.</p>
<figure id="attachment_2285" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2285" style="width: 649px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Bitlocker-Recovery-keys.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-2285" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Bitlocker-Recovery-keys.jpg" alt="Bitlocker Recovery keys" width="649" height="254" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Bitlocker-Recovery-keys.jpg 649w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Bitlocker-Recovery-keys-300x117.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 649px) 100vw, 649px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2285" class="wp-caption-text">Bitlocker Recovery keys</figcaption></figure>
<p>Now save the BitLocker recovery key to a file, your <strong>Microsoft account</strong> or print it to paper. The easiest way is save to a file, write or print it.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Note</strong></span>: don&#8217;t forget to save your password to safe place. If you forgot your password, you will loss your files.</p>
<p>When you have saved the password click <strong>Next. </strong>On the next page leave the default, <strong>Encrypt used disk space only&#8230;</strong> and click<strong> Next. </strong></p>
<figure id="attachment_2289" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2289" style="width: 646px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Encrypt-Used-Disk-Space.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-2289" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Encrypt-Used-Disk-Space.jpg" alt="Encrypt Used Disk Space" width="646" height="226" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Encrypt-Used-Disk-Space.jpg 646w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Encrypt-Used-Disk-Space-300x105.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 646px) 100vw, 646px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2289" class="wp-caption-text">Encrypt Used Disk Space</figcaption></figure>
<p>Now the system ask you, <strong>are you ready to encrypt your drive?</strong> Simply click start encryption.</p>
<figure id="attachment_2292" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2292" style="width: 623px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Drive-Encryption.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-2292" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Drive-Encryption.jpg" alt="Drive Encryption" width="623" height="452" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Drive-Encryption.jpg 623w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Drive-Encryption-300x218.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 623px) 100vw, 623px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2292" class="wp-caption-text">Drive Encryption</figcaption></figure>
<p>Let the BitLocker drive encryption completely encrypt your drive. It take a while and depend on your drive files.</p>
<figure id="attachment_2294" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2294" style="width: 686px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Encryption-Complete.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-2294" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Encryption-Complete.jpg" alt="Encryption Complete" width="686" height="212" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Encryption-Complete.jpg 686w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Encryption-Complete-300x93.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 686px) 100vw, 686px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2294" class="wp-caption-text">Encryption Complete</figcaption></figure>

<p>You can <strong>Manage BitLocker</strong> options from Bitlocker page. changing password, Turn it on or off, and even <a title="How to reset forgotten Windows 10 Password?" href="https://www.technig.com/reset-forgotten-windows-10-password/">remove password</a>.</p>
<figure id="attachment_2296" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2296" style="width: 743px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Manage-BitLocker.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-2296" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Manage-BitLocker.jpg" alt="Manage BitLocker" width="743" height="198" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Manage-BitLocker.jpg 743w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Manage-BitLocker-300x80.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 743px) 100vw, 743px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2296" class="wp-caption-text">Manage BitLocker</figcaption></figure>

It is not only Windows, the other OS like Linux, Mac OS are also the same. But you can enable Syskey to protect Windows against local password cracking. By default, Windows doesn&#8217;t protect the system from bringing any changes to the SAM database. In order to protect Windows from local password cracking, Microsoft had set the Syskey within <a title="Windows NT" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_NT" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Windows NT</a> 4.0 SP3. The Syskey utility can encrypt the hashed password information in a SAM database in the Windows operating system using a 128-bit RC4 encryption key.</p>
<h2>Enable Syskey To Protect Windows</h2>
<p>When you enable Syskey on Windows, the system asks you the Syskey password before displaying Windows log on-page. It seems like modern multi-factor authentication which Microsoft brought you a decade ago!</p>
<p>Syskey has the same configuration on all Windows. In order to enable syskey to protect windows, type &#8220;<strong>syskey</strong>&#8221; on Windows run and press enter. It will open syskey page and you must configure it.</p>
<figure id="attachment_2198" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2198" style="width: 331px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Enable-Syskey.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-2198 size-full" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Enable-Syskey.jpg" alt="Enable Syskey" width="331" height="227" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Enable-Syskey.jpg 331w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Enable-Syskey-300x206.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 331px) 100vw, 331px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2198" class="wp-caption-text">Enable Syskey</figcaption></figure>
<p>On the <strong>Syskey</strong> (Securing the Windows Account Database) page click <strong>Update</strong> button. Before enabling Syskey, read the details and information on the pages.</p>
<figure id="attachment_2199" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2199" style="width: 310px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Windows-10-Starup-Key.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-2199 size-full" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Windows-10-Starup-Key.jpg" alt="Windows 10 Starup Key" width="310" height="358" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Windows-10-Starup-Key.jpg 310w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Windows-10-Starup-Key-260x300.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 310px) 100vw, 310px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2199" class="wp-caption-text">Windows 10 Startup Key</figcaption></figure>
<p>Now on the <strong>Startup key</strong> select <strong>Password Startup</strong> and enter the password for syskey. The password must be strong enough to do not guess and crack easily. When done, just click <strong>OK</strong>.</p>
<figure id="attachment_2200" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2200" style="width: 364px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Enable-Syskey-to-Protect-Windows.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-2200 size-full" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Enable-Syskey-to-Protect-Windows.jpg" alt="Enable Syskey to Protect Windows" width="364" height="167" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Enable-Syskey-to-Protect-Windows.jpg 364w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Enable-Syskey-to-Protect-Windows-300x138.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 364px) 100vw, 364px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2200" class="wp-caption-text">Enable Syskey to Protect Windows</figcaption></figure>
<p>When prompt that <strong>The account database Startup key was changed</strong>. Click <strong>OK</strong> and the syskey page will close. Don, the syskey enabled successfully.</p>
<p>After enabling Syskey on your Windows, it will ask you the password key when Windows has started up. This happens before displaying log on page of Windows. So till here, you protect the log on a page from bypassing Windows login page tricks which we talked about on the &#8220;<a href="https://www.technig.com/reset-forgotten-windows-10-password/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Reset forgotten Windows Password</a>&#8221; post.</p>
<p>To test the syskey, once restart your computer and see the start-up password prompt at startup.</p>
<figure id="attachment_2202" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-2202" style="width: 369px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Startup-Password.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-2202 size-full" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Startup-Password.jpg" alt="Startup Password" width="369" height="187" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Startup-Password.jpg 369w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Startup-Password-300x152.jpg 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Startup-Password-368x187.jpg 368w" sizes="(max-width: 369px) 100vw, 369px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-2202" class="wp-caption-text">Startup Password</figcaption></figure>
<p>Just enter the password of syskey that you enabled before. Try to remember the password or write somewhere else. If you forgot the password you are not able to login to your System. It&#8217;s possible to bypass syskey password, but is time-consuming and need some third-party tools to <a title="How to Reset Lost Password of Kali Linux?" href="https://www.technig.com/reset-lost-password-of-kali-linux/">reset the password</a>.</p>
<p>Any question? And feel free to ask us. We try to help you protect your system or suggest us a new tip for protecting Windows SAM Database.</p>

<ul>
<li><strong>System Restore</strong> is enabled by default when you install Windows. It creates restore points automatically every week, and just before significant system events, such as the installation of programs like antivirus, Office, Adobe software, or device drivers.</li>
<li><strong>Shadow Copies</strong> is not enabled by default. You must configure it before you can use it to protect your system or your files from deletion. Shadow Copies creates a copy of a file before any changes are made to it. You can configure Shadow Copies to create preview copies automatically or manually.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>If you need to know more about Shadow Copies on Windows, you can read the article &#8220;How Volume Shadow Copy Service Works&#8221; on the Microsoft Technet website.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">
<h3 style="text-align: left;">How to Delete System Restore and Shadow Copies?</h3>
<p>Deleting some other extra files on your system needs to be done carefully. However, you don&#8217;t need to worry about deleting system restore points, because they only remove cached restore points that were created when changes were made to your system. System restore points keep only the last restore point.</p>
<p>Knowing how much disk space is reserved by restore points, depends on your system&#8217;s installation date. If you have been using your system for one year, the caches might be reserved for half of your system drive.</p>
<p>To see the installation date of your Windows, type the &#8220;<strong>systeminfo</strong>&#8221; command on the command prompt (<strong>cmd.exe</strong>). This will show you the entire system information. You can then find out the time of your system&#8217;s installation from the screenshot.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1795" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1795" style="width: 649px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Windows-8-1-System-Information-1.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-1795 size-full" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Windows-8-1-System-Information-1.png" alt="Windows 8 1 System Information" width="649" height="229" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Windows-8-1-System-Information-1.png 649w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Windows-8-1-System-Information-1-300x106.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 649px) 100vw, 649px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1795" class="wp-caption-text">Windows 8 1 System Information</figcaption></figure>
<p>To free up a huge amount of space from extra caches, go to <strong>System Properties &gt; System Protection </strong>tab. Under the protection systems, you will see the enabled ones with the <strong>Protection is On </strong>label<strong>.</strong></p>
<p>To open <strong>System Properties</strong>, right-click on the <strong>My Computer</strong> icon on your desktop and select <strong>Properties</strong>. Then, click on the <strong>Change Settings</strong> link on the right side of the screen.</p>
<p>Alternatively, you can type <strong>Sysdm.cpl</strong> on the Run or cmd prompt.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1797" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1797" style="width: 421px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Protection-Settings.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-1797 size-full" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Protection-Settings.jpg" alt="delete system restore and shadow copies" width="421" height="470" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Protection-Settings.jpg 421w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Protection-Settings-269x300.jpg 269w" sizes="(max-width: 421px) 100vw, 421px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1797" class="wp-caption-text">System Protection Tab</figcaption></figure>
<p>In my system, it&#8217;s only enabled for the Windows drive. So let&#8217;s try to delete it. To delete system restore and shadow copies, follow these steps:</p>
<ol>
<li>Go to <strong>My Computer</strong> and right-click on the <strong>Windows Drive</strong>.</li>
<li>Click <strong>Properties</strong>.</li>
<li>On the <strong>General</strong> tab, click <strong>Disk Cleanup</strong>.</li>
<li>It may take a few moments for Disk Cleanup to estimate the amount of space that can be freed up.</li>
<li>Select the <strong>System Restore and Shadow Copies</strong> checkbox.</li>
<li>Click <strong>Clean up system files</strong>.</li>
</ol>
<p>Disk Cleanup will then delete the system restore and shadow copies from your computer. For more information, you can read the articles about <strong>Disk Cleanup</strong> and <strong>temporary files</strong>. <a href="https://www.technig.com/delete-windows-10-temporary-files/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">How to delete temporary files in Windows?</a> It is also a good practice to clean up the system.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">So, on the <strong>Disk Cleanup</strong>, click the <strong>Clean up system files</strong> button. This will open the System Cleanup. On the <strong>Disk Cleanup</strong> for the drive (<strong>C:</strong>) page, click the <strong>More Options</strong> tab. You can see and delete System Restore and Shadow Copies from here. Read the details and click the <strong>Clean up</strong> button to completely remove and delete system restore and shadow copies.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1799" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1799" style="width: 391px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Delete-System-Restore-and-Shadow-Copies.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-1799 size-full" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Delete-System-Restore-and-Shadow-Copies.jpg" alt="Delete System Restore and Shadow Copies" width="391" height="477" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Delete-System-Restore-and-Shadow-Copies.jpg 391w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Delete-System-Restore-and-Shadow-Copies-246x300.jpg 246w" sizes="(max-width: 391px) 100vw, 391px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1799" class="wp-caption-text">Delete System Restore and Shadow Copies</figcaption></figure>
<p style="text-align: left;">Now, check your system drive. It freed up my system drive by over 35 GB, and I&#8217;m really happy. Do it on your system and get your hard disk free from cached files.</p>
