Before beginning to share a file, you must turn on the windows discovery options:

1. Go to the Control Panel, and click on the Network and Internet.
2. In the new window, click on the Network and Sharing Center.
3. On the top left-hand side, click on the Changed advanced sharing settings.
4. Turn on network discovery in the private/public/domain/all networks.

When you share folders with colleagues or friends, the built-in share permissions tools make the process easy for you. There are two types of shares in File Explorer.

1. Basic Share

1. Open File Explorer and navigate to the folder you want to share; right-click on it, find the properties and click on it.
2. Click on Sharing tab at the top of the window; you will see two options: Share (basic Share) or Advanced Sharing. If you click on the share option, you can quickly share folders with minimum configuration. Click on Share, and from the text box, find the user or group you want to share with.

3. Finally, in the Network access window, choose the people you want to share with on the network, give the permission level to the selected user and click on the Share button. And your file is shared; click done.

2. Advanced Share

1. Alternatively, when you open File Explorer, right-click on the intended folder, then click on the Properties, and this time click on the Advanced Sharing button, and in a new window, check the “Share this folder” option.

2. In the Advanced Sharing window, you can change the share’s name and limit the number of users that can access this folder simultaneously, and write comments for users.
3. Click on Permissions to specify the type of permissions and users you want to share with.

4. If you want to specify the user, click on the Add button, write the user’s name in the text box, and click on the Check Name button. Or click on the Advanced and Find Now button to find and select the existing users manually.

5. After selecting the user, you can now check the Allow or Deny boxes to define permission access to users. When you specify the permissions for users or groups, click Ok.

Note: there are three types of share permissions:

1. Full control: the user can read, write, change, delete, and even change the permissions type.
2. Change: the user can read, write, execute, and delete the folder.
3. Read: the user can read and view the content. (This is the default permissions)

Fix file sharing problems

After you shared a folder and it did not work or did not show up in the network on other computers, you may need to enable some services on your computer.

1. Search Turn Windows Features on or off in the search box or start menu and open it.
2. Scroll down and find SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support in the new tiny window and expand it. Check SMB 1.0/CIFS Client. Restart your computer.

3. Furthermore, if you still have problems, open the search box and search for Services and open it. Find Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication, double click on each of them to open and set the start type to Automatic and Start them.

4. Other services you need to set to Automatic and start are SSDP Discovery and UPnP Device Host.

After you set these four services to Automatic and start each of them, you need to restart your computer. After the restart of your computer, you can share folders in the network.

5. To change the directory and go to the Windows folder in the C drive: write cd windows and enter. And then write cd system32 and enter. You are now in these directories: C:\Windows\System32>

6. It is time to rename the utilman.exe file: to do so, write ren utilman.exe utilman1.exe and enter. The utilman file changed to utilman1. (The utilman1 is an arbitrary name, you can name it anything)

7. Moreover, now let’s rename the CMD.exe: to do so, write ren CMD.exe utilman1.exe and enter. You changed the name of CMD to the utilman. (The new name must be utilman)

8. After renaming the two files, return to the sign-in window and click on the Accessibility icon in the bottom right corner, and the CMD window shows up. (If you still do not have access to the cmd window, restart your computer)

• Decline; if you choose to decline, you will reject the transformation.

• Save and Open; if you choose the Save and Open option, you accept the transformation, and after you receive the file, the file automatically opens.

2. Let’s create a new user account using Command Prompt

The second way to create a new local user account, which is also an IT professional’s favorite way, is through a command prompt. This method is straightforward and easy; it does not need you to fill in all details about yourself. First of all, search the command prompt in the start menu and run it as administrator. If you don’t run as an administrator, you will not be given access permission.

Next, write the net user user_name password /add command in the command prompt and enter. On the second line, you will see “The command completed successfully“. You have already created a local user account with these two easy steps.

3. Add a new local user account with Computer Management

The third way to create an offline user account is via Computer Management. To open Computer Management, open the Run box (Windows button + R) and write compmgmt.msc and press OK. Alternatively, you can search Computer Management in the search box or start menu. On the left-hand sidebar menu under the system tools, find Local Users and Groups and expand it. You will see two folders appear; users and groups. If you open each of those folders, you will see a list of all users and groups in your system.

Next, right-click on User>New User, and a window shows up that wants you to fill in the new user name, full name, Description, and Password, and confirm your password. You must fill them in accordingly. There are four optional options, three of them ask you if you want to bring changes to your password later, and one of them asks whether your new user account should be disabled or enabled? You must not tick that one; otherwise, your new account will not get active. After you fill in the required details of the new User, click on Create. That is it!

After creating various users in your system, you may want to put them in one group to control them quickly. A group is a collection of multiple user accounts that share common security rights and have the same access rights to the computer. For example, you decide to share your computer with your relatives. On the other hand, you do not let them bring changes into your Operating System. If you define access rights for each of them separately, it will take lots of your time. Instead, you put the two accounts in one group and grant them the same security privileges. To create a new user group in Windows 11, go with the following instruction:

1. Press the Windows button + R to open the Run box.
2. Write compmgmt.msc in the Run box and click on the Ok button.

4. Double click on Local Users and Groups, and you will see two folders; Users and Groups.

Enable Hyper-V on Windows 11

Hyper-V is already available on Windows 10 and Windows 11, you just need to enable it. To enable it, search for “Turn Windows features on or off” in the Start Menu and click to open it. Or enter the command “optionalfeatures.exe” in the run and press OK.

Once you run that command the following screen appears. Check Hyper-V, make sure the Hyper-V Management Tools and Hyper-V Platform are checked as well, and then click OK.

You will see the screen below if your configuration is successful. Restart your computer to apply the changes.

After you restart your computer, you can configure your Hyper-V manager and create Virtual Machines.

Nested Virtualization

Nested Virtualization is a technology that makes you capable of installing Hyper-V on a virtual machine that is already running on Hyper-V. It is mostly used in the test environment, where you need multiple hosts or you want to create a Virtual Machine inside another Virtual Machine.

If you want to add the Hyper-V role on Windows Server that is running on a virtual machine, you need to enable Nested Virtualization. To enable Nested Virtualization, turn off the virtual machines, and run the following command in the PowerShell on the host operating system. PowerShell should be run as administrator.

Set-VMProcessor -VMName [Virtual Machine Name] -ExposeVirtualizationExtensions $true

Now, turn on your Virtual Machine and follow the steps below to add the Hyper-V role on the windows server.

Add Hyper-V role on Windows Server 2022

1. Open Server Manager, click on Dashboard and click on Add roles and features.

2. Click Next, choose the Installation Type Role-based or feature-based installation, and click next.

3. Select your server pool and click next.

4. On the Server Role, check the Hyper-V then click Next.

5. Leave everything to default, and continue clicking next until you get to the confirmation window. You can configure them later according to your need. Check the “Restart the destination server automatically if required” if you want your computer to restart automatically, then click install.

You will see the following screen, after the successful installation of Hyper-V on Windows Server.

Restart your machine, when your machine is loaded up back, go to Tools and click on Hyper-V Manager.

Now you can configure Hyper-V Manager, and create Virtual Machines and operating systems on the Virtual Machines.
