<p>You may forget or lose the password you set for your local account on Windows 11 and want to reset it. There are various ways to reset the password on Windows 11 before login in, and the most accessible and most convenient of them is through Command Prompt. This article covers all the required steps to reset <a href="https://technig.com/download-windows-11-iso-file/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Windows 11</a> passwords from Command Prompt (CMD).</p>

<p>You can check the Reset Windows 11 Password before login in for other methods to reset the password on Windows 11.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How to reset Windows 11 Password using Command Prompt</strong></h2>

<p>Command Prompt is a secure and easy way to <a href="https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-or-reset-your-windows-password-8271d17c-9f9e-443f-835a-8318c8f68b9c" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">reset the local account password</a> before logging into your computer. After turning on your computer and the password was incorrect, follow the steps below to reset or change the password.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Sign-in-Window-1024x577.png" alt="Reset Windows 11 Password from Command Prompt" class="wp-image-17837" width="768" height="433" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Sign-in-Window-1024x577.png 1024w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Sign-in-Window-300x169.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Sign-in-Window-768x433.png 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Sign-in-Window.png 1356w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption>Sign-In Window</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>At first, you have to have access to the CMD (Command Prompt) in the sign-in window. You must rename the <strong>utilman.exe</strong>, and <strong>CMD.exe</strong> in Drive C to access the command prompt.</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>To rename those two files in drive C, press the <b>Shift key</b> and restart your computer. You will be directed to the Windows Recovery page.</li><li>In the windows recovery, choose <strong>Troubleshoot</strong> option.</li><li>Select the <strong>Advanced options</strong> > <strong>Command Prompt.</strong></li></ol>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Command-Prompt-1-1024x644.png" alt="Reset Windows 11 Password from Command Prompt" class="wp-image-17838" width="768" height="483" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Command-Prompt-1-1024x644.png 1024w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Command-Prompt-1-300x189.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Command-Prompt-1-768x483.png 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Command-Prompt-1.png 1524w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption><br>Click on Command Prompt</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>4. Now that you have access to the CMD, you need to go to the C drive directory. Write <strong><code>C:</code> </strong>and enter. Additionally, you can write <code><strong>dir</strong> </code>and enter to see a list of all the main folders and files in the C drive.</p>

<p>5. To change the directory and go to the Windows folder in the C drive: write <strong><code>cd windows</code></strong> and enter. And then write <strong><code>cd system32</code></strong> and enter. You are now in these directories: <strong><code>C:\Windows\System32></code></strong></p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/directory-1024x102.jpg" alt="Directory" class="wp-image-17847" width="768" height="77" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/directory-1024x102.jpg 1024w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/directory-300x30.jpg 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/directory-768x76.jpg 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/directory-1536x152.jpg 1536w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/directory-2048x203.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption>Directory</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>6. It is time to rename the utilman.exe file: to do so, write <strong><code>ren utilman.exe utilman1.exe </code></strong>and enter. The utilman file changed to utilman1. (The utilman1 is an arbitrary name, you can name it anything)</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/utilman-1024x95.jpg" alt="utilman" class="wp-image-17848" width="768" height="71" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/utilman-1024x95.jpg 1024w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/utilman-300x28.jpg 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/utilman-768x71.jpg 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/utilman-1536x143.jpg 1536w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/utilman-2048x190.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption>utilman command</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>7. Moreover, now let’s rename the CMD.exe: to do so, write <strong><code>ren CMD.exe utilman1.exe</code></strong> and enter. You changed the name of CMD to the utilman. (The new name must be utilman)</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cmd-1024x86.jpg" alt="CMD" class="wp-image-17849" width="768" height="65" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cmd-1024x86.jpg 1024w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cmd-300x25.jpg 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cmd-768x65.jpg 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cmd-1536x129.jpg 1536w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cmd-2048x172.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption>CMD to Utilman</figcaption></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Reset the Password from Command Prompt</strong></h3>

<p>8. After renaming the two files, return to the sign-in window and click on the <strong>Accessibility</strong> icon in the bottom right corner, and the CMD window shows up. (If you still do not have access to the cmd window, restart your computer)</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Accessibility-1024x576.png" alt="Reset Windows 11 Password from Command Prompt" class="wp-image-17839" width="768" height="432" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Accessibility-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Accessibility-300x169.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Accessibility-768x432.png 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Accessibility.png 1366w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption>Accessibility Icon</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>9. In the sign-in window, start the command prompt and write the <strong><code>net user </code></strong>to see a list of all local users on your computer.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Net-User.png" alt="Reset Windows 11 Password from Command Prompt" class="wp-image-17840" width="670" height="97" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Net-User.png 893w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Net-User-300x43.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Net-User-768x111.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px" /><figcaption>Net User Command</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>10. Now write <strong><code>net user UserName new_password</code></strong> and enter. If the operation were successful, you would see the completion message in the second line.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Create-New-Password.png" alt="Create new password using CMD" class="wp-image-17841" width="725" height="95" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Create-New-Password.png 967w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Create-New-Password-300x39.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Create-New-Password-768x100.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 725px) 100vw, 725px" /><figcaption>Create New Password</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Finally, sign in with the new password, and you are done!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Conclusion</strong></h3>

<p>To conclude, you can quickly recover the forgotten password on Windows 11 following the above steps. I hope this could solve your problems and if you have questions, write them in the comment section.</p>

<p>Due to the security issue, you may set a complex password on your system for the safety of your data. If you forget or lose passwords on Windows 11 or other previous versions, you can safely reset the password before logging into the system. Moreover, there are various ways (Third-party tools and built-in tools) to reset the password without losing the data. This article covers how to <a href="https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-or-reset-your-windows-password-8271d17c-9f9e-443f-835a-8318c8f68b9c" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">reset local user account passwords on Windows 11</a>, through answering the <strong>security questions</strong>, <strong>password reset disk</strong> files, and resetting the password using <strong>CMD</strong>.</p>

<p>You can read this article if you are using windows 10: <a href="https://technig.com/reset-lost-windows-10-password-fast-correctly/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">How to Reset L</a><a href="https://technig.com/reset-lost-windows-10-password-fast-correctly/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ost Windows 10 Password Correctly?</a></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>1: Reset Windows 11 password with security questions</strong></h2>

<p>If you added security questions while creating your local account for Windows 11, you can answer those questions again and sign in successfully. After entering the wrong password, you will see the “<strong>the password is incorrect. Try Again</strong>” notification. Then click ok, and go with the following steps:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Under the password box, you see the “<strong>Reset Password</strong>” link on the sign-in screen; click on that.</li></ul>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Reset-Password-1-1024x643.png" alt="How to Reset Password on Windows 11 before Login" class="wp-image-17782" width="768" height="482" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Reset-Password-1-1024x643.png 1024w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Reset-Password-1-300x188.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Reset-Password-1-768x482.png 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Reset-Password-1.png 1364w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption>Click on Reset Password</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Login with the new password without losing a single piece of data.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>2: Reset forgotten password using password reset disk</strong></h2>

<p>Another way to reset the forgotten password on Windows 11 is through the password reset disk (It is a file you create on a USB flash drive and lets you safely reset the password later). This method is possible if you have already created a password reset disk on a USB flash drive. Since creating a password reset disk on Windows 11 and Windows 10 is the same, you can check this article <a href="https://technig.com/reset-windows-10-password/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Reset Windows 10 password with password reset USB</a> for creating a password reset disk. After plugging in the USB flash drive or SD card that contains the password reset disk file, go ahead with the following steps to reset the local user account’s password.</p>

To reset CentOS root password you don&#8217;t need anything just a simple boot will help you perform the entire process of resetting the lost password of CentOS Linux.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m testing this on a virtual machine. It works perfectly and I have reset CentOS Lost password with this method many times at home and work office. So try to not destroy your CentOS Linux server in a real network environment.</p>
<h2>Reset CentOS Root Password</h2>
<blockquote>
<p><strong>Note:</strong> This tutorial will only work if you have direct access to the machine or serial terminal access with boot menu options. You can’t reset the root password if you’re remotely connected since you need boot menu access.</p>
</blockquote>
<p><strong>1.</strong> For the first time when you boot your CentOS system, on the boot loading page, select the CentOS Linux (***) 7 or 8 (Core) and press &#8220;<strong>e</strong>&#8221; for editing the selected item.</p>
<figure id="attachment_9791" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-9791" style="width: 814px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/CentOS-Linux-7-Core.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-9791 size-full" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/CentOS-Linux-7-Core.png" alt="CentOS Linux 8 (Core)" width="814" height="475" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/CentOS-Linux-7-Core.png 814w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/CentOS-Linux-7-Core-300x175.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/CentOS-Linux-7-Core-768x448.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 814px) 100vw, 814px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-9791" class="wp-caption-text">CentOS Linux 8 or 7 (Core)</figcaption></figure>
<p>It will allow you to edit the sysroot file for resetting the lost CentOS Linux password. Make sure you do all tasks correctly as you see on the screenshots.</p>
<p><strong>2.</strong> Now, scroll down to the list until you see the line underlined below (<strong>ro</strong>). Just delete the selected yellow code and replaced with the next screenshot code.</p>
<figure id="attachment_9792" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-9792" style="width: 852px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Edit-CentOS-Linux-Boot-Loader-File.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-9792 size-full" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Edit-CentOS-Linux-Boot-Loader-File.png" alt="Edit CentOS Linux Boot Loader File" width="852" height="317" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Edit-CentOS-Linux-Boot-Loader-File.png 852w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Edit-CentOS-Linux-Boot-Loader-File-300x112.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Edit-CentOS-Linux-Boot-Loader-File-768x286.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 852px) 100vw, 852px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-9792" class="wp-caption-text">Edit CentOS Linux Boot Loader File</figcaption></figure>
<p><strong>3.</strong> Here you just need to do is change that &#8220;<strong>ro</strong>&#8221; to &#8220;<strong>rw</strong>&#8221; in order to start next into a bash shell. It should look like this &#8220;<strong>rw init=/sysroot/bin/sh</strong>&#8220;. See the screenshot as well.</p>

This can surely reset Windows 10 8 7 password from your computer, but you will have to realize that it does more damage than benefits.</p>
<p>Believe it or not, formatting your PC will remove everything from your pc or laptop and will make your system empty. Even the software, pictures, documents and all critical data will be gone just like that.</p>

If you don&#8217;t have a <a href="https://www.technig.com/reset-windows-10-password/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">password reset disk</a>, you have to use other ways to access your computer. <p>Now you can log back into your computer without a password.</p>
<p><strong>Bypass Windows Password without Resetting with PCUnlocker</strong></p>
<p>Need to get back into the Administrator account without resetting the password? This is another useful feature available in PCUnlocker. Just click the Options button at the bottom left of the program, and then select the Bypass Windows Password from the drop-down menu.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_9615" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-9615" style="width: 451px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-9615" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-1-300x225.jpg" alt="Password Bypass or Reset Lost Windows Password " width="451" height="338" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-1-86x64.jpg 86w" sizes="(max-width: 451px) 100vw, 451px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-9615" class="wp-caption-text">Password Bypass or Reset Lost Windows Password</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>A confirmation dialog will open, which says it will temporarily disable the Windows authentication subsystem while booting, click <strong>OK </strong>to proceed.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_9616" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-9616" style="width: 407px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Bypass-password-confirmation.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class=" wp-image-9616" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Bypass-password-confirmation-300x225.jpg" alt="Bypass password - confirmation" width="407" height="305" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Bypass-password-confirmation-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Bypass-password-confirmation-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Bypass-password-confirmation-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Bypass-password-confirmation-86x64.jpg 86w" sizes="(max-width: 407px) 100vw, 407px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-9616" class="wp-caption-text">Bypass password &#8211; confirmation</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Next, you’ll be prompted to restart your computer. Click <strong>OK </strong>and then remove the CD/DVD or USB flash drive from your computer.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_9617" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-9617" style="width: 399px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-Restart.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-9617" src="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-Restart-300x225.jpg" alt="Reset Lost Windows and Restart" width="399" height="299" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-Restart-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-Restart-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-Restart-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Password-Bypass-Restart-86x64.jpg 86w" sizes="(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-9617" class="wp-caption-text">Reset Lost Windows and Restart</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>After your computer restarts and boots to Windows login screen, click on the user account icon and you can log in by typing anything as the password. This procedure works only once. If you restart your computer, the login screen will only accept the original password.</p>
<p><em><strong>Note:</strong></em> This password bypass feature doesn’t work on Windows 10 with your Microsoft account and an Active Directory user account. In order to unlock your Microsoft account in Windows 10, you have to use the password reset feature above, which ends up switching it to a local account.</p>
<p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p>
<p>I highly recommend PCUnlocker to reset lost Windows password in case you forgot any Windows password. With the help of this tool, you can easily recover access to your Windows administrator account. Resetting a forgotten Windows password doesn’t get much easier than this. You don’t need to reinstall the Windows along with the other software installed on your computer.</p>

For most of us happened to forget the password of Windows user account. Here we try to show you how to reset forgotten <a href="http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso">Windows 10</a>  password in just a few minutes. It&#8217;s work for all Windows but no matter which windows you have Vista, windows 7, windows 8,1 or 10 and even Windows Servers.</p>
<h1>Reset Forgotten Windows 10 Password</h1>
<p>The first method is using without third party software. First of all, you must have Windows DVD disc or a <a href="https://www.technig.com/create-bootable-usb-using-diskpart/">bootable USB Flash Drive</a> for booting system.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_141" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-141" style="width: 1372px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-141 size-full" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB.png" alt="How to Reset Forgotten Windows 10 Password" width="1372" height="452" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB.png 1372w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB-300x99.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB-768x253.png 768w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-Bootable-USB-1024x337.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1372px) 100vw, 1372px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-141" class="wp-caption-text">How to Reset Forgotten Windows 10 Password</figcaption></figure></p>
<p><strong>Step 1:</strong> Boot the system with DVD or USB. If you don&#8217;t know how to boot your system, see the article about &#8220;<a href="https://www.technig.com/system-bios-boot-keys-laptops-desktop/">How to boot a system with DVD or USB</a>?&#8221;</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_142" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-142" style="width: 800px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-10-Setup.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-142 size-full" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-10-Setup.png" alt="Windows 10 Setup Page" width="800" height="443" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-10-Setup.png 800w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-10-Setup-300x166.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-10-Setup-768x425.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-142" class="wp-caption-text">Windows 10 Setup Page</figcaption></figure></p>
<p><strong>2.</strong> After booting the system, you will see the Windows setup page. Now press <strong>Shift+F10  </strong>to open command prompt (CMD).</p>
<p><strong>Step 2:</strong>  When the command prompt opened type <span style="color: #000000;"><strong>fsutil fsinfo drives</strong> </span>in order to list all available hard disk local drives. See the screenshot.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_143" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-143" style="width: 866px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-command-prompt.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-143 size-full" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-command-prompt.png" alt="Fsutil Fsinfo Drives " width="866" height="248" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-command-prompt.png 866w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-command-prompt-300x86.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Windows-command-prompt-768x220.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 866px) 100vw, 866px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-143" class="wp-caption-text">Fsutil Fsinfo Drives</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>You see all drives and <strong>D:\</strong> must be the windows root directory because <strong>c:\</strong> is the system reserved drive for windows boot loader.</p>
<p>To change the directory type<strong> d: </strong>and press enter then type <strong>cd windows\system32</strong> and press enter.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_144" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-144" style="width: 800px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Change-directory.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-144 size-full" src="http://3.90.216.52/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Change-directory.png" alt="Windows System32 directory " width="800" height="419" srcset="https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Change-directory.png 800w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Change-directory-300x157.png 300w, https://www.technig.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Change-directory-768x402.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-144" class="wp-caption-text">Find Local Windows 10 Drive with Command Line</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Here you must change Utility Manager (<strong>Utilman.exe</strong>) to <strong>cmd.exe</strong>. Before this take a backup of Utility manager file by typing <strong>ren Utilman.exe Utilman.bkp. </strong></p>
<p>Next copy <strong>cmd.exe</strong> and renamed to <strong>Utilman.exe</strong> by typing <strong>copy cmd.exe Utilman.exe. </strong></p>
